According to court records, McCune filed false and fraudulent claims with the plan on behalf of himself and scores of other former NFL players. He filed 68 claims for 51 additional players between June 5, 2017, and April 12, 2018. Medical equipment that cost $40,000 or more, such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers, ultrasound machines, and electromagnetic therapy devices, were commonly claimed for reimbursement.
